This course requires prior college level study in photography and a demonstrated competence with black-and-white 35mm film development and negative printing. Each student will design a semester-long photographic project utilizing large format photography. Workshop and demonstrations in the use and manipulation of the large format studio and field camera will be conducted. Particular attention will be devoted to the study of and photographing of traditional large format subject matter: landscape, architecture and portraiture. Research and in-class presentation of important photographic artists relevant to the individual's creative work will be required in addition to the student's portfolio of large format photographs.
