The Media Industry: Art and Econmics explores, dissects and demystifies the business aspect of the media industry, from both "micro" and "macro" perspectives. A fundamental understanding of the economics of the Media Industry will be the basis for further exploration and examination of the life cycle of projects from idea through development, production, marketing and distribution, including the myriad permutations of the business as evidenced in the studio, independent, network, cable, Internet and ancillary arenas. We'll also look at the historical and current context of media production, specifically looking at the forces driving transformation within the industry today (media concentration, digital technologies, global distribution of media, among others.
