Exploring the many possibilities of narrative writing, students will experiment with storytelling. Through reading and analysis of examples, the elements of the craft of writing fiction will be analyzed. The most important of these will be character development, plot development (particularly in longer pieces), narrative voice and point of view, description, setting, dialogue, etc. As the semester progresses, exemplary works of fiction will be examined for their adaptation of specific literary tools.
