Advanced Technology in the Curriculum continues to enhance resources from leading high-tech companies to improve technology integration in the classroom. This professional development addresses the challengesteachers face in effectively applying computer technology to enhance student learning including troubleshooting techniques. The trainings incorporate the use of the Internet, Smart Board technology, web page design, and multi-media software. Software includes Microsoft Encarta and Inspiration. The trainings also develop an understanding of web-based video clips and their incorporation into a multimedia presentation. Teachers will leave the course with a solidly documented Unit Portfolio that engages students in the use of technology. The assessments will be aligned with the State Core Curriculum Content Standards, as well as, ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS*S), a standard for educational uses of technology that facilitates school improvement in the United States. Each assessment will meet at least two NETS*S standards. This course will be taught in ten 4-hour modules over the two weeks with an additional 20 hours of on-line instruction, support and mentoring. Class sessions combine hands-on, exploratory, lecture, tutorial, and individual practice experiences. Emphasis will be placed on collaboration self- and peer-evaluation, creativity and presentation techniques.
