3 credits This course will introduce students to the most representative writers of the short story in Spain and Latin America from Romanticism to the present. Students will be prepared to perform close readings; of the literary genre under study, to analyze the form and content of the texts read, paying due attention to all internal and external aspects that impact the narrative process and the evolution of the short story. Prerequisite: SPA-201, placement test at 300-level or above or SPA-300 or above. Exceptions may be made for Study Abroad or native/heritage speakers with permission of chairperson.
