This course is designed to address the rela-tionship between religion and work life from a perspective shaped by the Catholic theological tradition, Catholic social teaching on labor, and specifically Pope John Paul's encyclical Laborem Exerens (The Priority of Labor). Stu-dents will also consider the relationship be-tween work and the contemplative life; work and social justice; work as understood from within the framework of the Franciscan tradi-tion; the workplace, religion and the law; the spirituality of work in the world's religions; and religious pluralism in the workplace.
