Fulfills a course requirement in the Modern Language Core ConcentrationPrerequisite: Successful completion (C- or higher) of Intermediate II coursein the same language or placement by examination.Literary Tradition II provides a chronological survey of literaturein the respective language from around 1750 AD to the present.The most significant works of literature, ranging from drama to theshort story and the novel, especially in the nineteenth century, willbe introduced and discussed. Emphasis is placed on the tools ofanalysis specific to literary studies and criticism in modern languagestudy. Reading, discussing, and writing about significant texts affordsunderstanding of literature and reinforcement of advanced languageskills.
