Prerequisites: PHED 35286 or PHED 35330 or HLTH 37453 This course introduces students to the nature and operation of elementary and secondary schools. Students learn to organize instructional materials into meaningful daily lessons in both health and physical education. The course emphasizes the development of teaching strategies, classroom management techniques and use of educational media. The field experience involves observation, tutoring, micro-teaching and practice in a variety of other instructional skills. Field assignments are sought that involve the pre-service teacher in a realistic mainstreamed classroom environment.
