A study of the social and literary traditions of the Spanish speaking Caribbean (Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico) within the context of the Caribbean Basin. Emphasis is given to the major literary and social works from the Modernismo to the present. Representatives works by Bosch, Brull, Cabrera Infante, Carpentier, del Cabral, Ferré, Florit, Guillén, Henriquez Ure?, Lloréns Torres, LimaPalés Matos, and others.
