Prerequisite: SPA 241 This course is a survey of Spanish-American literature from pre-Colombian times, through the Colonial period to the present. The course will focus on key periods in Spanish-American literature through the study of representative texts to provide students with an understanding of the singularity of Spanish-American literature, an appreciation of defined masterpieces, as well as the historical and cultural forces which influenced them.
