Arts course (A). This course provides an in depth-introduction to the essential nature of art. The main focus of the course will be to familiarize students with aesthetic theories that have exerted influence on the art world and to guide students in applying and assessing them. Elements of style, including principles of design, aesthetics and the philosophy of art, as well as the historical development of color theory, and a survey of major style periods will be reviewed. Flexibility will be emphasized to permit students to follow individual interests and to choose special areas for personal development. This course may be offered in sections with a W2 designation.
