CHEM 2110 or (ENVL 2110, ENVL 2200 and CHEM 2140). (Cross-Listed as ENVL 3334.) This course deals with the processes that control the chemical composition of natural waters (lakes, rivers, wastewaters etc). Topics to be discussed include: thermodynamics and kinetics, acid-base reactions, gaseous exchange (e.g. CO2) between liquid and gaseous phase, precipitation and dissolution, adsorption-desorption, and oxidation-reduction reactions in aquatic systems.
