BIOL 1100 and BIOL 1200. (Same as MARS 3499.) Formerly Prep for the New Jersey Seal Study. This course serves as both a course in seal biology and ecology, and a preparation for participation in The New Jersey Seal Study (Spring Semester). This courses will focus on basic biology and adaptations of pinnepeds (seals, sea lions, fur seals and walruses) to aquatic life. We'll also review basic behavior, and work in teams to observe and interpret behavior. Some instruction in field observation of behavior will also be included. Limited field work (TBA) may be included in late fall (one or two trips). Faculty: C.
