This course is taken in a student's junior year. The course will focus on the knowledge and skills needed for successful collaboration and transition planning among special and regular educators, parents, and other service providers to meet the educational goals of children with special needs. The course will explore the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and the role of the educational team, what it means to collaborate, issues of collaboration in the context of inclusion, and typical forms of collaboration that exist in schools. It will also explore issues pertaining to implementing transitioning and inclusion. Prerequisites: ED 340 or ED 348, ED 331. Corequisite ED 351, ED 360. Field requirement (12 hours).
