CHE 06472 - Principles of Biomedical Processes

Institution:
Rowan University
Subject:
Description:
Prerequisites: CHEM 06100 or CHEM 06105 This course introduces students to chemical engineering fundamentals applied to biomedical systems. Students analyze and design biomedical processes. The basic biochemistry and physiology required for understanding of biomedical systems is presented. Basic principles of mass transfer, heat transfer, fluid flow, and chemical reaction are used to analyze or design drug delivery systems, pharmacokinetic models, the circulatory system, transport across cell membranes, and human and artificial organs. Laboratory experiments and demonstrations will be integrated throughout the course.
