Prerequisites: HIST 05306 and ( HIST 05299 or AMST 13201 ) This course surveys U.S. diplomatic history from the Revolutionary period through the emergence of the U.S. as a colonial power. The course stresses the impact of public opinion, cultural and political relations, as well as economic and strategic factors. It will analyze conflicting scholarly interpretations. This course may not be offered annually.
