This course will explore a variety of contemporary sculptural techniques (welding, casting, plastics, fabrication, and carving) through common readings and projects. Students will be expected to create an "in series project" based on their experience of contemporary sculptural issues. The student and instructor will make a contract based upon the student's project proposal made at the beginning of the semester. From this proposal, the student will be expected to create works which are coherent within themselves and a tradition, as well as coherent within a series. Critiques will be structured around the terms of the contract.
