This is an intensive course requiring strong swimming skills. A pre-course swimming test will be given on the first day. The test consists of a 500 yard NON-STOP swim using both the crawl and breast strokes with rhythmic breathing and a 20 yard swim to retrieve a 10 pound weight in deep water and return it to the starting point, keeping both hands on the weight and the weight at the surface of the water. American Red Cross certification in PROFESSIONAL CPR and FRIST AID as well as the LIFEGUARD certification will be awarded to students successfully passing all the Red Cross requirements.
