This course involves the design, implementation, and critical analysis of chemistry experiments that are intended to elucidate current societal issues. A major portion of the course is devoted to experimentation using computer-interfaced sensors, probes, and instrumentation. The experiments are suitable for high school chemistry and physical science laboratory courses and the exercises are meant to be easily integrated into the high school laboratory curriculum. The lab experiences will be supplemented with lectures that review the important underlying fundamental principles.
