MTH 430 - Introduction to Topology

3 credits A comprehensive introduction to elementary topology. The concepts of topological spaces and metric spaces will be introduced. Connectedness, compactness and properties of subsets of the real numbers rooted in topology will also be considered. The quotient topology will be used to construct surfaces as identification spaces, and tools will be developed to distinguish one surface from another. Prerequisite: MTH-212.
