Arts course (A). Through example and readings this course seeks to introduce students to the principals of information delivery in image based media (Photography, Video, Film, Television, Print). The emphasis is understanding not only the composition of a "screen" or "image"- and to a lesser degree technical processes involved- but to understand why certain stylistic and content choices are made in an attempt to influence or motivate the viewer. Historical as well as contemporary cases will be cited.
