ARTV 1161 and ARTV 1162. Arts course (A). Overview of art and design for visual communications, with emphasis on conceptual and technical study of typographic syntax and application. Problem-solving methods, verbal/visual conceptual skills, technique, and craft are developed through a series of problems that parallel the professional world. Assignments in typographical composition, logo design, sequential layout, type and image, and single and double page layout are given utilizing computer and traditional design tools. Faculty: M.
