CRIM 5368 - Advanced Issues in Crime Prevention Prerequisites

Baccalaureate Degree from Accredited Institution. During the first part of the course, students will learn crime prevention theories and applications by reading articles and case studies which have indicated successful techniques for preventing or eliminating crime. The second part of the course requires students to pair up with local businesses to engage in discussions regarding past victimization and current concerns regarding crime. After these discussions, students will conduct a site survey to evaluate current crime prevention efforts. In the final section of the course, students will present their findings to the instructor and businesses and recommend steps the business could take for the future. The final crime prevention plan will be devised by working together with the business to meet their needs. Students are required to present two status reports to the class in addition to a final presentation summarizing the work of the semester. The business may be present for the final presentation.
