Mind/body interface explored with respect to health promotion and disease prevention, with a focus on somatosensory systems, cognitive and perceptual functioning, and the biopsychosocial basis of experience. Integrated perspectives include: effects of love, prayer, focused intention, placebo effect, meditation, and the role of choice in the healing process. Survey of alternative practices includes principles of wellness and health promotion, nutrition, use of relaxation and imagery, tai-chi, massage, therapeutic touch, energy manipulation, acupressure and acupuncture.
