PHTH 5000, 5101 and 5102; open to PHTH majors only. Concurrent with PHTH 5202, this course is an in-depth study of normal and abnormal structure and function of the musculoskeletal system. This course will follow a problem-solving format using case studies to guide the learning of the physical therapy examination, evaluation, intervention, and outcome assessment of musculoskeletal impairments, functional deficits, and disability. Students will be expected to apply principle of physics, anatomy, physiology, pathology, psychology, kinesiology and all knowledge and skill learned in PHTH 5101 and 5102 in this course. Lab sessions will include demonstration and practice of physical therapy examination techniques and treatment interventions. This course will include Module #5: Pediatric Orthopedics, and Module #7: Neck and Back Trauma, Pain, and Dysfunction. There will be graded care plans and written exams for each Module, and a practical exam on upper and lower quarter screening for Module #7.
