Prerequisite: ITL 211 or one ITL 200-level course, or permission of instructor This course introduces students to major periods and figures of Italian literature. The course will cover eight centuries of Italian literature, from its origins to the present. Through selected readings, essays, and original texts, students will familiarize themselves with the main genres, ideas, and movements of Italian literature, and will be able to develop a critical understanding of the close link that exists between Italian literature and the society and culture it represents.
