An introduction to molecular biology with emphasis on nucleic acid structure and function, and the application of gene splicing. Ethical issues associated with genetic engineering are explored. The course is team taught by members of the biotechnology faculty, each of whom brings his/her own expertise to this basic course. Lecture only. For biotechnology majors. Open to biology M.A. and biotechnology B.S./M.S. students. Prerequisite: permission of the graduate coordinator 3 credits.
