1 semester, 4 credits The bewildering diversity of living forms on earth has evolved in accordance with basic physical principles.This course examines the physical rules affecting potential designs of living organisms. Course topics include essential size-shape patterns and the mechanics of walking, running, flying, and swimming. Combines field and laboratory studies of animal structure and function. Prerequisites: BIO 103-104 or permission of the instructor.
