Institution:
Antelope Valley College
Subject:
Description:
4 units 6 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 097, READ 099 and MATH 070. A course giving an overview of the physics of direct and alternating current circuits, semiconductors, integrated circuits (IC's), magnetism, electromagnetism, and Ohms law. Application of these physical laws will be studied as they pertain to electrical power generation and distribution, alternative energy sources, electronic communication, computer technology and robotic controls. Throughout the course, the scientific method, scientific history, political and socio-economic aspects of electronics technology will be examined. The laboratory experiments facilitate hands-on use of electronic test equipment to allow the comprehension of the electrical principles to be displayed, providing the student the opportunity to witness the laws of physics, chemistry and mathematics as they apply to the electrical/electronic principles.
