9 credits "G" Prerequisite: (ENC 1122H) or (ENC 1122H and acceptance into the Honors College or approval of the program director. This course is an integrated survey of European and American culture in the Eighteenth, Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries. It emphasizes the principle historical and intellectual developments, perspectives and challenges which shape contemporary Western societies. The survey gives special consideration to the disciplines of psychology, philosophy, literature, history, art history, political science, religious studies and the history of science. (Students who complete IDS 2103H will receive equivalency credit for: POS 2050H, LIT 2120H and PHI 1602H.) This course partially satisfies the writing requirements outlined in the General Education Requirements. 137 contact hours.
