NURS 420 - Care of the Childrearing Family

This course focuses on the unique health and developmental needs of infants, children and adolescents. Students will develop an evi-dence-based nursing plan of care, emphasiz-ing family-centered care that incorporates screening, teaching, health promotion, pre-vention and counseling. The student will use the nursing process and evidence-based prac-tice to provide comprehensive health care to children in acute care and community settings. Additional observational opportunities in well baby clinics, day care centers and other com-munity-based agencies for childrearing fami-lies are accessed to enhance student learning experiences. Prerequisites: NURS 360, NURS 370, NURS 380 Corequisite: NURS 430
