Viewing healthcare as a means of sharing in the healing work of God, students will explore the dignity and destiny of the human person in light of illness and suffering. This will in-clude the meaning of ?person,? concerns for justice in the medical profession, obligations to the poor, material and formal cooperation regarding medical procedures, issues at the beginning and end of life, the role of con-science and the place of natural law. The dig-nity of the health profession in Catholic teaching, the spiritual aids available to those who are ill and the Christian understanding of sickness, suffering and death will be explored. This course is required for all Healthcare ma-jors. (every semester)
