Fulfills a course requirement in the Mathematics Core ConcentrationPrerequisites: Successful completion (C- or higher) of MATH 214 and 231;or consent of instructorFocuses on two areas of mathematics required for secondarymathematics education: number theory and geometry. Number theorytopics to include: divisibility, primes, congruencies, perfect numbersand the Fibonacci numbers. Geometry topics to include a review ofEuclidean geometry, transformation geometry, and an introduction toseveral non-Euclidean topics: neutral geometry, Bolyai-Lobachevskiangeometry, and Riemannian geometry.
