Prerequisites: Prior departmental approval of a research proposal, 3.3 GPA,and CHEM 450This course serves as a capstone experience for outstanding studentsmajoring in chemistry. Working closely with a faculty mentor,students engage in original research on a topic of their choice. Theresearch may involve laboratory experiments, field work, or computersimulations. This course provides experience in designing andconducting experiments, critically analyzing data, reviewing publishedscientific literature, and communicating scientific information. Theculmination of the course is a formal written thesis and a public oralpresentation.
