In cooperation with the Newport Historical Society, the CHP program offers an archaeological field school at the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, Newport's oldest residential structure. In addition to gaining experience in archaeological fieldwork and the analysis of material culture, students are exposed to broader topics such as colonial health and demography, systems of food procurement and preparation, and global trade patterns enveloping Newport throughout the 18th century. 3-6 credits.
