This course serves as the entry-level course in the minor and provides an overview of the business of sports. Topics include regulatory agencies, players and coaches associations, labor relations, intercollegiate and professional sports, sports agencies, and the sporting goods industry. This course will also explore the management principles related to the industry of sports. This course will examine the roles technology and the media have played in the globalization of sports. Students will also be introduced to the diversity of career opportunities within the sports industry. 3 credits.
