3 credits This course focuses on the securities market, analysis of the various types of securities, examination of theories employed in the valuation of stocks and bonds from the investor's vantage point; investment-risk analysis; evaluation of investment performance, discussions of options, hedging, arbitrage strategies and pricing, and speculation. Students are introduced to evolving techniques in investments and current applications in the real world. Topics explored include portfolio selection; computers are used involving technological globalization. Students do independent research, write papers, and make oral presentations.
