Half of the semester is devoted to magazine publication including design of covers, editorial matter, and marketing to certain audiences. Students study existing magazines and create new publications. We will study existing magazines and create new publications. The rest of the semester is devoted to the study of the history of book design, parts of books, papers, type, bindings, and the creation of both traditional and non-traditional book structures. Prerequisites: ART 343 Advertising Design, ART 237 Typography and ART 234 Lettering and Type Design
