Exploration of the successive guiding ideals and _approaches to historic preservation in America, together with their European parallels and ante-edents. Discussion of theories of continuity and change in the urban environment and of planning concepts and techniques that further preservation planning objectives in relation to programs for community development and neighborhood conservation.
