Description:

This course will introduce the student to the study of a single filmmaker over the span of his career. Alfred Hitchcock will be studied because of his unparalleled mastery of the medium for telling a story both through con-ventional narrative techniques and increasing-ly subtle and complex cinematic structures. The films will range from his earliest extant silent films through his final films, nearly fifty years later. (spring 2009)
