An in-depth study of technical topics related to computer systems with emphasis on the relationships between hardware architecture, systems software, and applications software. The course explores logic design, elementary switching theory (gates), and the relation between hardware design and machine language. The architecture of processors and storage systems are explored and the implications for systems software design are covered. Prerequisite: IS 117.
