This course introduces students to the literature, geography, history, culture, society, economics, and political systems of Latin America. It focuses not only on Latin America as a whole, but also on the relationships between the various geographical regions-México, CentralAmerica, Caribbean, and South America-that constitute it. This is the foundation course for the Latin American Studies major and minor. Students are advised to take this course, which is offered every semester, at the beginning of the major or minor.
