This course is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the compositions, structures, uses properties of minerals and igneous rocks. Its main focus is on the recurring associations of minerals and igneous rocks within the Earth, the processes that generate them and their relationship to global tectonics. Field trips are required. Prerequisites: GEOS 112 Introduction to Geology; or GEOS 220 Physical Geology
