This course is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the textures, compositions and structures of sedimentary and metamorphic minerals and rocks. Its main focus is on the recurring associations of sedimentary and metamorphic minerals and rocks within the Earth, the processes that generate them and their relationship to global tectonics. Field trips are required. Prerequisite: GEOS 244 Minerals and Igneous Rocks
