Discusses the traditional culture, French colonialism and the development of Vietnamese nationalism, the Japanese occupation in WWII, and the struggle against France and the U.S. in the First and Second Indochinese Wars, as well as the postwar period. Explores the American experience in Vietnam and the impact of the war in the United States.
