Continuation of Organic Chemistry I with emphasis on the chemistry of polysubstituted functional compounds and multistep synthes-es. The theory of modern spectroscopic me-thods used in structure determinations is dis-cussed. The laboratory section of the course provides training in the basic techniques of organic synthesis, as well as an introduction to spectroscopic analyses. Two lectures and one four-hour laboratory sessions weekly. (spring) Prerequisite: CHEM 201 with a minimum grade of ?C?
