An examination of such metaphysical problems as: the relation between mind and matter, freedom and determinism, the essence and existence of God, substance and process, the nature and limits of metaphysical knowledge. The writings of such classical and recent figures as Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Kant, Hegel, Bergson, Whitehead, Ayer, and Collingwood are read and discussed.
