Prerequisites: PSY 05206 and PSY 01107 or PSY 05206 and PSY 01100 This course provides an overview of the field of community psychology. Its topics will include preventive approaches to mental health, crisis intervention, community-based treatment approaches, systems theory, community mental health centers, organization theory, paraprofessionals, the use of self-help groups and community psychology in the schools and criminal justice system. The course provides a conceptual framework for community psychology.
