This course is designed to present the know-ledge of pharmacology as utilized in current nursing practice. The content focuses on the pharmacologic classifications of drugs, their physiologic impact, monitoring for therapeu-tic responses, side effects, adverse reactions, drug interactions, toxicity, patient-teaching responsibilities and nursing implications. Em-phasis is placed on utilizing the nursing process and the role of the nurse when caring for patients receiving drugs. Students will un-derstand the importance of the IOM recom-mendations on reducing medication errors Prerequisites: NURS 240, BIO 202, BIO 307, CHEM 105 Corequisites: NURS 250, NURS 260
