This course serves as an introduction to news reporting with a focus on the basic skills of the profession. Students will begin by learning to define the news and to understand its various categories. From there they will learn the fundamentals of structuring news stories, observing news-style rules, handling quotes, interviewing, and researching. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing 3 credits.
